Do you want to beat the heat by continuing your college studies this summer? Don’t sweat it because there is still time to take advantage of Federal Pell Grant monies and other financial aid funds this summer.
“If you currently receive a Federal Pell Grant, at any college or university, STC may be able to award you additional Pell Grant funds for the summer 2011 terms,” said Miguel Carranza, STC associate dean of student financial services. “There are also other emergency funds available to help students continue riding the education wave this summer. All you have to do is come in to the Financial Aid Office at an STC campus near you. We will help you learn about your options.”
There are some conditions of eligibility for summer Pell Grant Funds. Students must already have been awarded a Pell Grant during the previous academic year. They must have earned a minimum number of 24 credit hours over the course of the previous academic year, but the summer courses count toward that minimum. Students must enroll at least six credit hours between all three summer sessions offered at STC.
“We hope many students will take advantage of the chance to get ahead in their studies this summer,” added Carranza. “Students can take advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities to study during the day and enjoy the cooler summer evenings with family and friends. We offer a full range of classes to meet students’ needs, as well as a variety of fun, cool extracurricular activities that give our summer crowd an added reward for their scholastic efforts.”
