Local Bank Offers "Money Saving" Lessons to Kids

IBC Bank hosted ‘Money Buzz,’ or a kid-friendly financial lesson how to SAVE MONEY for 4th grade students at Ringgold Elementary.  In recognition of National Financial Literacy Month, the one-hour lesson taught children the value of currency and the importance of saving. Throughout the lesson, children actively participated in different hands-on activities including counting money, purchasing and saving money. All students received a signature coin money bank in the shape of a beehive to encourage them to save.

RGC Man's Body Found in Mission

Vally Media Reports: Investigators found the body of an elderly man from Rio Grande City underwater in a canal located near Inspiration Rd. in Mission TX on Sunday. The report states the man went missing in the canal while swimming with his granddaughters. (Read the Full Report)

Large Sum of Fake Currency Found in RGC

Several counterfeit $100 bills were discovered in a home after a puzzling, and bizarre robbery that took place on Brazil Street in Rio Grande City. Investigators are looking into the possibility that one of the "victims" might have actually planned the whole thing. (Read the Full Story)

GMS 8th Grade Girls Track Win District Title

Grulla Middle School 8th grade Girls Track Team win District Title!!! Congratulations to all the members on the team for this great feat. The girls took the title on March 30, 2011 in Roma with a total of 233 points. Team members include : Bottom Row: Coach Yadira Lopez, Mady Silguero, Celeste Elizondo, Yasmin Rangel, Neyla Pena, Vanessa Montes, Mireya Zarazua, Coach Enedelia Rios. Top Row: Coach Jayne Gomez, Destiny Flores, Jenny Segura, Jannelly Moreno, Deanne Alaniz, Kassandra Cruz, Kasandra Rivera. Not pictured: Dinora Pena, Deann Vela.
