Local College Seeks RGV Writers/Artists

“Interstice”, South Texas College’s literary magazine, has begun planning its seventh issue. Writers and artists from across the Rio Grande Valley are invited to submit original poetry, short stories and artwork for possible publication. The magazine will be published in April 2011.

The deadline for submission of items is Nov. 30, 2010. A submission form that includes a short biography written in third-person voice must accompany every submission. Submission forms are available online at www.southtexascollege.edu/interstice.
Only three total submissions per contributor will be forwarded to the selection committee. Each contributor can have no more than two entries accepted for final publication. The editors use a blind selection process, so do not include a name on the submitted entries; names should appear only on the submission form along with a submission’s title

Prose submissions should be no longer than 3,000 words, and poetry submissions should be between three to five pages in length total. Black and white and color artwork is also welcome for review.

All materials for consideration should be submitted electronically. Text files must be provided as “rtf” documents and e-mailed to interstice@southtexascollege.edu. Artwork must be provided as high-resolution “jpg” files, minimum 300 dpi. Artwork should be submitted via CD-ROM or flash drive to Liana Andreasen, South Texas College, Pecan Campus Building J, Room 3.1404, 3201 W. Pecan Blvd., McAllen, TX 78501.

For additional information contact Colleen Edgar Brooks at cbedgar@southtexascollege.edu or Liana Andreasen at landreas@southtexascollege.edu.
